Tasting Notes
The 777 Clone is grown at a higher elevation in Freedom Hill Vineyard and produces wine with a lovely balance of juicy acidity and dark fruit. This block is always a part of Freedom Hill Pinot noir; for the first time you can experience it as a pure entity. As always, this bottling includes only the very best barrels (top 10%). This bottling is exclusively available to our WineClub members.

Vinous - Josh Raynolds

Shimmering magenta. Assertive raspberry, exotic spice and floral qualities on the expressive nose, along with hints of smoky minerals and cola. Densely packed and energetic on the palate, showing outstanding clarity to the sappy, densely packed red berry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors. Deepens with air while maintaining energy, finishing with discreet tannins that build slowly on an impressively persistent, floral-accented finish.

Vineyard Notes
Freedom Hill Vineyard is located in the foothills of the Coast Range, 10 miles SW of Salem, Oregon. During the day warm air rises from the valley floor ripening the skins. At night, cool ocean breezes act to retain acidity. Planted on old sedimentary soils, the vines have a SW exposure at an elevation of 520’ to 580’. This Pinot noir comes from the West Liberty block planted in 2008 with the 777 clone.
Production Notes
Release Date: Sep 2022; Production: 122 cases. The de-stemmed grapes were fermented insmall stainless steel fermenters with no SO2, allowing the fermentations to proceed naturally. After gentle pressing and settling, the wine aged in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new, for 16 months before bottling by gravity without fining. This Pinot Noir 777 clone is a blend of the five best barrels.
Food Pairing Notes
Rich, full flavored entrees like New York steaks, leg of lamb and roasted vegetables.
